Get the opportunity to own one of the rare Rover Mini Cabriolet produced and developped by the Rover Special Products (RSP). Rover saw the success of the Minis converted by Lamm Autohaus since the 80’s and obviously wanted their own piece of the cake. 75 Minis converted by the same company were ordered by Rover in RHD only to see how its own market will react to a Mini without a roof. The success was huge as the 75 cars were sold under only one month even if the price (11 995 GBP) was more than twice one of a basic 1275 (5 295 GBP) !

ROVER decided then to produce a small batch of ROVER Mini Cabriolet between 1993 to 1996, in three colors; Nightfire Red , Carribean Blue and British Racing Green. Only the Nighfire Red Minis received a matching roof color while the two other colors got a grey top !

From far away, the shape isn’t too dissimilar to the Lamm’s converted Mini except from the strange body kit (which is factory orginial !). Upon closer inspection, the finish of the project is of a higher quality : the body was way more strengthened, done with a nicer approach and with the finishes such real quarter windows that roll down or up !

1081 examples are believed to have been produced, of which includes the 75 « prototypes » built by Lamm. Some say that the total count of Rover Mini Cabriolet made is way below the 1000 marks worldwide. No numbers seems to be 100% accurate.
Nevertheless, one thing is certain : the total of Rover Mini Cabriolet produced is really low, and this one in particular is true jewel !
